Company-Named Scholarships

The company-named scholarships were created to increase the number of GRC Master's Scholars in research areas of special interest to the cosponsoring companies. These scholarships are named for the companies providing matching funding. The company-named scholars are chosen from the applicants for the Master's Scholarship Program based on the eligibility requirements used to select the Master's Scholars, and on the match between the student's proposed research and the cosponsoring company's research interests. The first company-named scholarships were awarded for the 2001-2002 academic year with IBM and National Semiconductor each naming two scholarships. Currently, Intel Foundation is cosponsoring 7 scholarships through the SRC Education Alliance and Applied Materials is cosponsoring 2 schoalrships bringing the number of company-named scholarships for the 2009-2010 academic year to 9.

The recipient of a company-named scholarship will be mentored for the term of the scholarship by an Industry Advisor from the cosponsoring company, and will be awarded internships and other support from the cosponsoring company as appropriate.
